The word Taebaek refers to the Taebaek Mountains, a mountain range considered the legendary birthplace of the Korean nation. In Korean mythology, it is on this mountain that King Dangun, the mythical founder of Korea, is said to have established his first capital. Thus, Taebaek symbolizes light, clarity and origin, in relation to purity of mind and spiritual enlightenment.
On a symbolic level, Taebaek represents unchanging light and divine power. It is a poomsae which refers to greatness, nobility and dignity. It embodies inner strength, morality and pure brilliance of the spirit, essential elements for advancing on the path of Taekwondo with integrity and discipline.
